Smart Cities Innovation Challenge

In August of 2016 ATTACQ and LaunchLab hosted a workshop where budding entrepreneurs and startups could engage with ATTACQ over what types of businesses they were looking for.  After weeks of receiving submissions from all across South Africa, 6 winners were chosen out of the original 86 submissions at the LaunchLab’s Ideas Pitching Platform at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab.  After going through LaunchLab’s Lift-Off programme, 3 startups have survived and ATTACQ is using their network and global footprint to help them expand as well as work to bring them into their supply chain.  One of them is already market ready

This time round, LaunchLab and ATTACQ are engaging in a Smart Cities Challenge. On top of the momentum built through the above challenge – we are looking to take the engagement to the next level by bringing technologies into Waterfall City to make it the premier location in Gauteng to live, work and play; as well as roll these solutions out to all of ATTACQ’s properties.

To kick it off, the LaunchLab is hosting a Challenge Workshop with ATTACQ on 17 August. The purpose of the workshop is to provide context for the current challenges to help entrepreneurs with solutions that address opportunities in the following area:

  • Location technologies
  • Transportation
  • Security
  • “Black screen” technology
  • Loyalty
  • Technology to improve experiences in spaces where people live, work and play.

Why attend?

Attending the workshop will give you the opportunity to listen to and engage with experts from ATTACQ who will help you to better understand the challenge, stimulate your thinking and provide clarity about the value of your business idea.

Winning business ideas receive a share of R100 000 in seed funding and LaunchLab incubation support (including workspace, Internet, a portfolio manager and mentorship) to the value of R80 000.
